I feel like I’ve been knitting a lot of baby stuff lately. Anyway, I made another Katja. This one is for one of my best friends’ sister’s baby. The baby is a girl and her name is Grace Abishai Pozas Coad. (Her mom is Mexican/American and her dad is Mexican.) My friend’s sister and her husband live in Mexico, so I figured a cute, open top like this would come in handy during the insanely hot Mexican summer days, which is basically every day.

The yarn is Lion Cotton in Grape. I modified the pattern by knitting the “cups” from the top down so as to avoid the crochet cast-on. I also reduced the number of stitches cast on during the joining of the cups to the main body by about 10.

Thanks to Mr. Bear for graciously standing in as a baby.
