Remember when I was making these? (NHM#7 from Terri Shea’s Selbuvotter: Biography of a Knitting Tradition)
It was waaaay back when….. no one was reading my blog at that time, so let me remind you. It was the summer of 2007. And somehow the method by which I was taught to knit had caused me to twist all my knit stitches. Somewhere about two-thirds of the way through the second mitten, I learned how to do my knit stitches properly. I was so anguished over the fact that I had knit so much of these mittens the “wrong” way that I tossed them into a dark corner and left them.
I took the sad little mittens out recently, and I discovered that they don’t actually look that bad. In fact, they look nice! Maybe the fact that all the stitches are twisted make it look intentional. It’s fortunate that these are knit in the round so that we don’t have twisted knits and untwisted purls. That would not be nice.
Anyway, I’m finishing them now. It makes me happy to be finishing up these long-neglected mittens. It’s really nice to be suddenly all done with something cool like fancy mittens. I’m almost done with the body of the second mitten and then it’s on to thumbs!
I don’t really have much to show because I’ve been working on 6 things at once. Yes, 6: Wicked, Summer Daze, NHM#7, last strip for the collaboration afghan thing, felted bag for Mom, some fingerless gloves for me…. and I’m sure there’s more. Ugh.
I have made a lot of progress on the Summer Daze socks, though. I might actually finish them in a few more sittings. They require a heel and a cuff and then I can wear them
The bag I’m making for my mom is the Felted Tapestry Bag by Nicky Epstein (found in Knit It! fall/winter 2006). It looks like this. However, I’m using knit picks yarns because I’m on a very limited budget.

I got my caffeine swap package! It’s so nice, thanks Chelsey! In case you can’t see from the picture, Chelsey Blair sent me some really yummy coffee and walnut bars, a coffee cup dishcloth, Starbucks holiday blend, Knit Picks Swish Superwash in Wisteria, Debbie Bliss merino DK, and some Jojoland Melody (a picture here). Oh, and a coffee cup, too!
On a different note, I realize it has been a very long time since my last post, however, I don’t think I have many readers so it doesn’t matter. In case I do have readers, here are my excuses:

NHM#7 has made some progress. (You can’t tell, but I made it to the beginning of the main chart on the second mitten!)

Since the women’s mohair hoodie bit the dust, I’ve started a new sweater. It is the famous Wicked and I’m using Berrocco Ultra Alpaca (which really should be illegal… It’s like a drug).

I’m also working on some Baby Tube Socks in Elann Esprit. They are for my friend, Anna, who is having a baby this month. Also, the booties pictured below are for Anna.

So you see, I’ve been busy! Knitting!
After many false starts, I finally have my own knitting blog. My current works-in-progress are:

Women’s Hoodie from Knitting on the Go

NHM#7 from Selbuvotter

a second New York hat

Summer Daze socks (tufutsies special edition pattern).
Yeah, that’s a lot… I’m a very ADD knitter.
I have a ravelry account (!!!), my username is fluffymoonhair.
