EddaGrin

Meet my new excuse for never blogging anymore. She’s sweet, but she keeps me busy! When I get a spare moment, blogging is just not that high on my list. I would rather just knit. My knitting has been pretty boring to blog about anyway, since my sleep-deprived brain can only handle very simple things right now. I did finish a pair of purple socks for my mom that have been hanging around for months.  I also started working on a blankie for a friend’s baby. I’m not sure if she reads this blog, so I won’t get into specifics. It’s on ravelry, if you’re interested. The yarn I’m using is Knit Picks “Comfy Sport.” I highly recommend it. It’s very soft and not very splitty. The colors are lovely, too.

I made some  “Christine’s Baby Booties” for Edda out of some leftover cherry tree hill sock yarn and they have been the best ever at keeping her feet warm. She can wiggle her way out of any sock or bootie on the planet except these. If you ever make them, don’t leave out the tie. The tie is the key to the staying-on-ness. They look pretty darn cute, too!

Here are some recent photos of Edda in handknits:

I really have been meaning to update this blog. I enjoy blogging. But lately, real life has been soooo distracting. I’m still working away on my bunny mural. I’ve got eleventy-one baby wips (and other kinds, too). I’ve got classes, a new puppy, housework, a baby in my tummy (who happens to be taking over more and more of my personal space every day), and a Spanish class to teach. It’s not more than I can handle, but I think it’s definitely as much as I can handle.
However, I will blog about my various knitting projects soon. (no, really, I will!) I just need to find my digital camera…

His beard really is huge, haha. Maybe I’m a little strange, but I’ve always appreciated a nice beard.

It’s a girl!

Now please excuse me, I have to go knit something pink.

I’m almost done with my silk garden socks. They would be done now if I hadn’t gotten distracted my new WIP: the baby room. I was suddenly overcome by the urge to paint the baby room. It’s coming along very nicely, but it’s very time-consuming so the knitting has been stalled momentarily. I’ll post some pictures pretty soon.

Edited to add:

Here are some pictures. The light is very bad for pictures in this room, but I did my best. Just know that it’s unfinished and the colors aren’t really that weird in real life.

My Silk Garden Sock yarn finally came and I have been quite busy knitting with it. I surprised myself by knitting these from the top down with a gusset heel, something I haven’t done in ages. It was surprisingly refreshing. I really love the yarn, too.

We got a new kitty Saturday. His name is Milo and he is 6 weeks old. As you can see by the pictures, he is incredibly adorable. (aaah! so cute!!) The ravaged toy is the pictures is knitty.com’s “Bubby.” (one of my first knitting projects) Milo has adopted it as his own and he abuses it thoroughly.

I don’t usually like cozies, but when I saw the pattern for the Garter Mug Cozy I just had to make it. I am a terribly slow coffee drinker and I hate cold coffee. This is a bad combination. I have decided that these mug cozies actually DO work to keep the coffee warm. They also make for a cute, quick project and were a good excuse to buy a skein of Noro Kureyon to try since *gasp* I had never used it before. (The first one of these I made out Lion Wool for my swap parter in the ravelry caffeine addicts swap and I almost couldn’t give it away.)

The final decision on the Kureyon is this: I like it a lot (I’m such a sucker for colors. I’m an artist, I can’t help it!) but I could never handle wearing it against my skin for an extended period of time. It’s just a bit too scratchy. Maybe I could wear Kureyon mittens, but that would be pushing it since my wrists might itch. I’ll think it over. For now, I love my little mug cozy and I might make anothe from the remaining yarn as a gift.

I just discovered that I can upload a series of photos at the same time and do this little trick called “insert gallery” and it puts them all in nicely and neatly as you can see above. (click for full-size!) The drawing was for my final critique in my advanced drawing class. I’m bittersweet about finishing this class. I probably won’t have the opportunity to take this class from Dr. Price again (the professors rotate teaching that class every year) and I really enjoyed her teaching demeanor. She is very encouraging and inspiring. I feel like I explored some artistic areas that I had been putting off for a while. I want to post a series of all twelve thematic drawings that I did for that class. Obviously, my theme was knitting and how it connects people.

About the lizard: My six-year-old sister, Katie, caught a lizard today while I was visiting over at my parents house. I just took a picture because I thought he was cute. In the background you can see that I was knitting Katie’s tank top.

Today was the last day of classes for the summer. I only have two exams next week, so there should be a lot more knitting content around here in the near future!! Yay for summer!!

I saw somewhere online that the original Winnie the Pooh movie have been released on dvd. I am tempted, very tempted, to buy them. I grew up watching Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day. Even now I get this warm, fuzzy feeling when I think about Pooh. He’s great.

The books are also great, and I’m not just tempted to buy them, I’m GOING to buy them.

I’m going to post about knitting pretty soon. There really hasn’t been a whole lot lately, except for “boring” stuff. (Plain socks, baby bibs, dishcloths, etc. School is killing my brain.)
