I’m so excited because I’m finally close to completion on some of my WIPs! I’m a very ADD knitter. One serious drawback of this is that I sometimes feel like it takes FOREVER to just finish something.
I’m about 95% done with my Hooray for me Gloves/Broad Street Mittens, and I absolutely love them. I’m not sure if I mentioned them yet; I’ve been kind of embarassed about how many WIPs I have had on the needles lately. Anyway, I’m knitting them in Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Merino in the “Birches” colorway. (I have a serious love for this yarn.) As your can see in the picture, I have finished one mitten. The instructions for the mitten shell decreases required quite a bit of tinkering. Here is one of the only blog posts I could find that addressed this problem to my satisfaction. I thought I’d pass it along in case anyone else is having the same problems as me…
The Felted Tapestry Bag is a little more than halfway done with the actual knitting part. After that I must learn/execute duplicate stitch embroidery and say a prayer while I toss hours of hard work into the washing machine to be felted. I really don’t know if I will be able to do it. It’s just. so. scary. When I’m through, it is supposed to look like this:
Last but not least, Mary Ann’s wrap. I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned this project for the same reason as the glove/mittens. So here’s the story: My mother-in-law, after I pressured her to tell me what she would like for me to knit for her, requested a wrap. (a very boring one.) It is, in fact, a giant, garter stitch rectangle in Lion Brand Homespun. So I’m being a good daughter-in-law and making exactly what she wants. I’ve found that it isn’t quite as dreadfully boring as I’d initially feared; at least it gives me something to knit when we’re watching movies with the lights off! I tried many times to take a picture of the wrap, but the light has been terrible. So… here is a picture of me being ridiculous with the wrap draped over my head. (I blame the maddened facial expression on my frustration with trying to take a picture of the cursed thing.)
