So… I got the coolest book: Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. It’s really a neat approach to bread making and so far it has worked well. I baked my first loaf yesterday.
The baking part of the process requires that you heat a pan of water in the oven along with your pizza stone on which you’re going to bake the bread. I put a fairly sturdy glass tart pan with about 1.5 cups of water in it into the oven along with the pizza stone and heated the oven to 450 degrees. When the oven had heated up, I decided to check and make sure that there was still enough water in the dish. I pulled the rack out…. and the dish EXPLODED. I don’t mean it broke and fell apart, it really blew up all over the place and scared me to death. Water went all over… glass all over…. huge mess….. etc. I still baked some bread, though, and it was great.
Later on, I washed our bed sheets. I do that fairly frequently with no ill effects. This time, I somehow managed to wrap Ryan’s new book up in the sheets and wash it, too. The book completely dissolved except for the plastic laminating sheets from the front and back covers and the spine with a chunk of wet paper stuck to it. I felt so bad telling him about it… he had been eagerly awaiting its arrival from Amazon and had barely begun reading it.
After all this, I realized that little Edda had come down with an ear infection (Actually, I suspected but wasn’t sure. A trip to the doc this morning confirmed that she has indeed gotten her first ear infection.) I seems that these things really do happen in threes. I’m a little nervous about today as when we got home from the doctor’s office and picking up Edda’s prescription, I discovered that Oliver had had explosive diarrhea in his crate. (We have to crate him when we leave the house because he gets nutty and destroys stuff.) If ya’ll think about it, pray for me today….
Sorry, this wasn’t mean to be such a whiney post. I’m actually in a pretty good mood in spite of it all. It sorta feels like I’m in some kid of comedy movie…. I’m just trying to laugh at it. Hey, what else can you do? I finished the sweater I blogged about last time and I’m hoping to post some photos soon. I really love it… it turned out exactly as I had hoped it would!
